O feito foi promovido pela empresa ARM Engineering na última quarta-feira (11), no circuito de Albi, na França.
O carro escolhido foi um Renault Zoe – veículo totalmente elétrico com autonomia de quase 400 km – que recebeu melhorias para completar um trajeto de 2.055,68 quilômetros sem precisar reabastecer.
Para alcançar esta distância, o veículo utilizou uma carga completa de sua bateria e um tanque com 200 litros de G-H3 – um biocombustível produzido a partir de esterco e hidrogênio – que alimentava uma célula de combustível para gerar eletricidade.
O processo, idealizado pela francesa, permite utilizar o G-H3 para reformar o hidrogênio “e criar, assim, eletricidade para alimentar a bateria”, segundo Marc Lambec, presidente da ARM Engineering.
Cinco pilotos se revezaram no volante do protótipo no circuito de Albi durante três dias, das 7h à meia-noite, para bater o recorde de distância de 1.360 km que pertencia a um Toyota Mirai nos Estados Unidos.
