O Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) informou nesta sexta-feira (15) que 156.454.011 eleitores estão aptos a votar nas eleições de outubro, número recorde na história eleitoral do país. São 9,1 milhões de eleitores a mais que em 2018 (crescimento de 6,21%).
Contribuíram para esse aumento os jovens de 16 e 17 anos e as pessoas com mais de 70. A quantidade de eleitores dessas faixas etárias — que não são obrigados a votar — aumentou em relação à eleição de 2018.
Após uma intensa campanha do TSE que envolveu influenciadores digitais, artistas e políticos, o eleitorado de jovens de 16 e 17 anos cresceu 51,13%. Essa faixa etária registrou 716.164 eleitores a mais que em 2018.
Houve ainda um aumento significativo dos eleitores com mais de 70 anos. Agora, são 14,8 milhões, o que representa 2,8 milhões (23,82%) a mais que no último pleito.
A maior parte do eleitorado é formada por mulheres. São 82,3 milhões de eleitoras, que representam 52,65% do total. Os homens são 74 milhões (47,33%).
