Segundo o 2º Inquérito Nacional sobre Insegurança Alimentar no Contexto da Pandemia da Covid-19 no Brasil (II Vigisan), a cada 10 lares chefiados por mulheres ou por pessoas negras de ambos os gêneros, 6 têm algum nível de insegurança alimentar, de acordo com a pesquisa. Entre famílias chefiadas por homens, independentemente de raça, o índice é de 53,6%; entre lares chefiados por pessoas brancas, é de 46,8%.
O levantamento, capitaneado pela Rede Brasileira de Pesquisa em Soberania e Segurança Alimentar (Rede PENSSAN), foi feito nos 26 estados e no DF, tanto em áreas urbanas quanto rurais. Foram entrevistados 35.022 indivíduos em 12.745 domicílios, entre novembro de 2021 e abril de 2022.
De acordo com estudo da Rede de Pesquisa Solidária em Políticas Públicas e Sociedade, as mulheres negras que têm ocupações na base do mercado de trabalho foram o segmento da sociedade que mais morreu de Covid-19 em 2020.
Elas também foram as mais afetadas pela recessão gerada pela pandemia – mais presentes em setores não essenciais e sem vínculos formais de trabalho, muitas mulheres negras perderam parte significativa de sua renda durante a pandemia.
As taxas de desocupação e de subutilização (situação em que a pessoa trabalha por menos horas do que gostaria) deste grupo, por exemplo, são maiores do que as verificadas entre mulheres não negras, segundo dados da PNAD Contínua do 2º trimestre de 2021, do IBGE, analisados pelo Departamento Intersindical de Estatística e Estudos Socioeconômicos (Dieese). Em rendimentos médios no mesmo período, as mulheres negras recebiam 46,6% da remuneração de homens não negros.
Uma das consequências da combinação desses fatores é a insegurança alimentar.
