‘Índio do buraco’ vivia sozinho em área isolada e foi encontrado morto em Rondônia
Ele vivia em isolamento total desde que seu povo foi morto por fazendeiros; a causa de seu falecimento será investigada pela Polícia Federal.
Encontrado pela Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai) há 26 anos, o indígena que vivia sozinho na Terra Indígena (TI) Tanaru, em Rondônia, foi encontrado morto durante uma ronda da Coordenação-Geral de Índios Isolados e de Recente Contato (CGIIRC) da Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai) no dia 23 de agosto.
O indígena conhecido como “índio solitário” ou “índio do buraco” vivia sozinho há quase 30 anos.
Segundo a Funai, “o corpo do indígena foi encontrado dentro da sua rede de dormir em sua palhoça localizada na Terra Indígena Tanaru”, durante a ronda de monitoramento e vigilância territorial realizada pela equipe da FPE Guaporé.
Em nota, a Fundação informou que “não havia vestígios da presença de pessoas no local, tampouco foram avistadas marcações na mata durante o percurso”. Além disso, não havia sinais de violência ou luta.
A Polícia Federal (PF) esteve no local e realizou a perícia com a presença de especialistas do Instituto Nacional de Criminalística (INC) de Brasília e apoio de peritos criminais de Vilhena (RO).
O indígena era o único sobrevivente da sua comunidade, de etnia desconhecida. A Funai disse ainda que “lamenta profundamente a perda do indígena” e que a causa da morte será confirmada por laudo médico legista da PF.
Ivaneide Bandeira, ambientalista e fundadora da Associação de Defesa Etnoambiental Kanindé, participou do processo de localização do “índio do buraco”, que aconteceu há mais de 20 anos. Para ela, o caso coloca em evidência as ameaças às quais os indígenas isolados são submetidos.
“Os seus territórios estão sendo invadidos, eles estão sendo expulsos sem nenhuma garantia de vida. É muito triste o que aconteceu com o índio isolado do Tanaru. Ele não aceitava de forma nenhuma o contato com essa sociedade que massacra e leva à extinção vários povos indígenas”, comentou.
Ivaneide lamenta, sobretudo, a extinção de mais uma etnia indígena no país. Algo que, segundo ela, não acontecia há anos.
O “índio do buraco” vivia sozinho há quase 30 anos, depois que os últimos membros de seu povo foram mortos por fazendeiros em 1995. Ele foi visto a primeira vez um ano depois, em 1996, pela Frente de Proteção Etnoambiental Guaporé (FPE Guaporé), sediada em Alta Floresta do Oeste (RO).
Ele vivia na Terra Indígena (TI) Tanaru, próximo à divisa de municípios no sul de Rondônia, mais precisamente em Corumbiara, distante a pouco mais de 700 quilômetros de Porto Velho.
