Um terremoto de magnitude 6,3 a uma profundidade de dez quilômetros atingiu a região da fronteira da Turquia- Síria nesta segunda-feira (20), disse o Centro Sismológico dos Estados Unidos (USGS).
Segundo a USGS, o tremor teve seu epicentro na cidade de Uzunbag, no estado de Hatay. A rede Al Jazeera noticiou um segundo tremor, de magnitude 5,8 com epicentro em Samandag
Segundo o European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), outros nove tremores de magnitude menor (entre 3 e 4) atingiram a região ao longo da tarde dessa segunda-feira (20).

Segundo a agência Reuters, três mortes foram confirmadas e mais de 200 pessoas ficaram feridas por conta dos novos tremores, de acordo com o Ministro do Interior da Turquia, Süleyman Soylu.
Segundo informações da AP, o prefeito da cidade de Hatay, Lutfu Savas, afirmou que há pessoas presas em prédios que desabaram total ou parcialmente. Segundo ele, seriam pessoas que estavam de volta a suas casas para retirar pertences depois do terremoto do início do mês.
