A World Athletics, organização que gere o atletismo mundialmente, proibiu atletas transgênero de competir na categoria feminina em eventos internacionais.
O presidente da organização, Sebastian Coe, disse que nenhuma atleta transgênero que passou pela puberdade masculina poderá disputar competições que valem para o ranking mundial feminino a partir de 31 de março.

Os atletas DSD serão obrigados a reduzir seu nível de testosterona no sangue para menos de 2,5 nanomoles por litro (o limite anterior era de 5) e devem permanecer abaixo disso por dois anos para competir internacionalmente na categoria feminina em qualquer evento.
Nos regulamentos anteriores, os atletas DSD eram alvos de restrições apenas em eventos que variavam de 400 metros a uma milha.
Disposições provisórias serão introduzidas para atletas DSD que já competem em eventos anteriormente irrestritos, exigindo que eles mantenham seus níveis de testosterona abaixo de 2,5 nanomoles por litro por um período mínimo de seis meses antes de serem autorizados a competir novamente.
