As montadoras Volkswagen e General Motors (GM) iniciam nesta segunda-feira (27) períodos de férias coletivas para cerca de cinco mil trabalhadores de suas fábricas de Taubaté e São José dos Campos, no interior pautlista.
Com o mercado em desaceleração, montadoras no país anunciaram afastamento de funcionários e redução na produção entre março e abril. As paralisações também ocorrem em unidades da Hyundai, em Piracicaba; Mercedes-Benz, em São Bernardo do Campo; e Stellantis, em Goiana no Pernambuco, que reúne marcas como Fiat, Peugeot, Citröen.
Na Volkswagen, o afastamento dos funcionários na fábrica de Taubaté será inicialmente de 10 dias para cerca de 2 mil trabalhadores. Depois desse período, um novo período de férias coletivas será adotado para 900 funcionários, que só voltam ao trabalho após o feriado de Tiradentes.
De acordo com a fabricante, a medida tem como objetivo a manutenção da linha de produção da unidade e ainda a instabilidade na cadeira de fornecimento de componentes.

Na General Motors, a medida atingirá três mil funcionários da unidade de São José dos Campos (SP) – cerca de 80% da área de produção. O retorno está previso inicialmente para o dia 13 de abril.
O Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos da cidade explicou que o objetivo também é ajuste de estoque por conta da desaceleração do mercado e queda das vendas.
Dados da Federação Nacional da Distribuição de Veículos Automotores (Fenabrave) mostram que janeiro de 2023 começou com queda nas vendas do setor. Comparado ao mês anterior, houve queda de 34% nos emplacamentos de automóveis, veículos comerciais leves, caminhões e ônibus — ainda que o número seja 12% maior que o observado em janeiro de 2022.
Em fevereiro, nova queda: 9% em relação a janeiro. Contra o mesmo mês de 2022, o acumulado também passou ao campo negativo: recuo de quase 2%. Considerando apenas automóveis, houve redução de 7% e 4,2%, respectivamente.
