Atriz lutava contra um câncer de pulmão desde o fim do ano passado
A atriz Aracy Balabanian, a icônica Dona Armênia de “Rainha da Sucata” e a impagável Cassandra de “Sai de Baixo”, morreu na manhã desta segunda-feira (7), aos 83 anos.
Aracy estava internada na Clínica São Vicente, na Gávea, na Zona Sul do Rio de Janeiro, e lutava contra um câncer de pulmão desde o fim do ano passado. A causa da morte não foi revelada.
Uma das últimas imagens de Aracy foi de um encontro com Claudia Raia e o filho, Luca, em uma visita ao Rio de Janeiro no mês passado.
Filha de imigrantes armênios, ela nasceu em 22 de fevereiro de 1940 em Campo Grande, em Mato Grosso do Sul.
Aracy se reconheceu como atriz aos 12 anos de idade, já morando na cidade de São Paulo com a família. Ela foi levada pelas irmãs mais velhas para assistir a uma peça de Carlo Goldoni com a companhia de Maria Della Costa.
Para realizar o sonho de estar nos palcos, a menina teve que driblar a rejeição do pai, que era contra a filha seguir a carreira.
Aracy venceu a resistência em casa e, aos 14 anos, foi convidada por Augusto Boal — então diretor do Teatro de Arena — para um teste no Teatro Paulista do Estudante.
Ela passou, e o primeiro trabalho foi a peça ‘Almanjarra’, de Arthur Azevedo, que lhe valeu elogios dos críticos Décio de Almeida Prado e Sábato Magaldi. “Eles escreveram uma crítica que terminava dizendo: ‘Aracy Balabanian: guardem esse nome’. Eu fiquei possuída”.
Fez vestibular aos 18 anos para a Escola de Arte Dramática de São Paulo e para Ciências Sociais, na USP – este, atendendo ao desejo do pai. Aprovada em ambos, abandonou o último no terceiro ano para se dedicar totalmente ao teatro.
Participou de espetáculos encenados pelo Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia, o TBC – entre eles, ‘Os Ossos do Barão’, de Jorge Andrade, em 1963 – e integrou o elenco da primeira montagem no Brasil do musical ‘Hair,‘ em 1969, dirigido por Ademar Guerra.
Aracy Balabanian deu vida a diversos personagens que ficaram marcados na memória do público. Entre eles estão Gabriela, do programa infantil “Vila Sésamo”, em 1973.
A atriz passou dois anos trabalhando na Rede Manchete. Lá, entre 1986 e 1988, ela integrou o elenco das novelas “Mania de Querer” e “Helena”.
A atriz voltou para a Globo em 1989, interpretando Maria Fromet em “Que Rei Sou Eu?”. Em 1990, conquistou o país com a Dona Armênia, de “Rainha da Sucata”, mãe controladora de três filhos. Ela emprestou o sotaque e alguns costumes armênios da família à trama. O personagem fez tanto sucesso que voltou em “Deus nos Acuda”, de 1992.
O bordão “na chon!” é lembrado até hoje.
A atriz interpretou a manipuladora Filomena em “A Próxima Vítima”, de 1995. O papel lhe deu o prêmio de Melhor Atriz da Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte.
