O robô explorador indiano confirmou a presença de oxigênio no polo sul da Lua, anunciou a agência espacial do país asiático. Além disso, foi detectada também a presença de enxofre, cálcio, ferro, entre outras substâncias.

“O instrumento de Espectroscopia de Decomposição Induzida por Laser (LIBS) a bordo do rover Chandrayaan-3 fez as primeiras medições ‘in-situ’ da composição dos elementos da superfície lunar perto do polo sul”, anunciou a Organização Indiana de Pesquisa Espacial (ISRO) em um comunicado.

O robô Pragyan (sabedoria em sânscrito), com seis rodas e movido por energia solar, percorrerá o polo sul e transmitirá imagens e dados científicos ao longo de duas semanas.
A Índia trabalha para alcançar as conquistas de outros programas espaciais com uma fração do custo, apesar de ter registrado alguns reveses.
