O gabinete do primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, negou a existência de um acordo para trégua temporária em Gaza para permitir a retirada de estrangeiros da região.
A agência Reuters havia informado, com base em duas fontes de segurança egípcias, que Egito, Israel e Estados Unidos tinham concordado com o cessar-fogo e a reabertura da fronteira em Rafah.
“Atualmente, não há trégua e ajuda humanitária em Gaza em troca da retirada de estrangeiros”, disse um comunicado do gabinete de Netanyahu.
O chefe do gabinete de comunicação do Hamas, Salama Marouf, afirmou não ter recebido nenhuma informação do Egito sobre o plano de abrir a fronteira.
Segundo a Reuters, o acordo estava previsto para valer a partir das 9h no horário local (3h, no horário de Brasília) desta segunda-feira (16). Mas fontes da agência em Al-Arish afirmaram que a fronteira permanecia fechada após este horário.
A Reuters informou que o cessar-fogo coincidiria com a reabertura da passagem na fronteira de Rafah, no sul de Gaza, com a Península do Sinai, no Egito. E que os três países tinham concordado em manter a fronteira egípcia com Rafah aberta até as 17h no horário local (11h, de Brasília).
A Embaixada dos Estados Unidos de Israel não se manifestou, de acordo com a agência. O acordo permitiria a saída de cidadãos estrangeiros de Gaza e a chegada de ajuda humanitária ao território palestino.
Um grupo de 33 brasileiros que está ao sul da Faixa de Gaza, aguarda quando poderão atravessar a fronteira com o Egito.
O governo brasileiro planeja buscar as pessoas de avião no território egípcio. O avião foi enviado de Brasília para Roma e, na capital italiana, aguarda autorização para ir para o Egito.
