Além da expectativa de vida, o IBGE também calculou o tempo de vida a mais que cada brasileiro deve ter, em média, com base em sua idade.
De acordo com as projeções de expectativa de vida feitas até 2021, a esperança de vida ao nascer estava em uma crescente constante. Os resultados eram calculados com base em informações de mortalidade da década passada e sem considerar qualquer tipo de efeito da pandemia.
No entanto, com a pandemia, as estimativas para 2020 e 2021 não se confirmaram, e houve uma mudança também no esperado para 2022.
