A Suprema Corte da Rússia decidiu nesta quinta-feira que ativistas LGBT devem ser designados como “extremistas”, em uma medida que os representantes de homossexuais e transgêneros temem que leve a prisões e processos judiciais.
A medida faz parte de restrições sobre expressões de orientação sexual e identidade de gênero, incluindo leis que proíbem a promoção de relações sexuais “não tradicionais” e a proibição de mudanças legais ou médicas de gênero.
A proibição dirigida a estes grupos se insere num contexto crescente de repressão à comunidade LGBTQ+ no país. Em março passado, o presidente Vladimir Putin sancionou uma lei que criminaliza qualquer ato que promova “relações sexuais não tradicionais” em filmes, programas de TV ou online e propagandas.
Nessa onda discriminatória, cirurgias de mudança de sexo e tratamentos hormonais foram proibidos. Pessoas trans devem se divorciar e são impedidos de adotar filhos.
O pedido foi feito pelo Ministério da Justiça russo em 17 de novembro, e afirmou — sem dar exemplos — que “vários sinais e manifestações de orientação extremista, incluindo a incitação à discórdia social e religiosa” haviam sido identificados nas atividades do movimento LGBT na Rússia.
