Banco Central do Brasil reduziu em 0,5% a taxa básica de juros (Selic). A taxa caiu para 11,75% ao ano.
A taxa é menor desde março de 2022. A decisão foi tomada por unânimidade da diretoria do Comitê de Política Monetária (Copom) que divulgou a decisão pouco após o fechamento dos mercados nesta quarta-feira (13).
Essa é a quarta redução neste ano, da Selic que estava em 12,5%.
O Copom é formado pelo presidente do Banco Central, Roberto Campos Neto, e por oito diretores da autarquia. Cabe ao comitê definir o patamar da Selic a cada 45 dias.
No comunicado divulgado após o encontro, o Comitê voltou a sinalizar que poderá cortar novamente a Selic em 0,5 %, nos próximos encontros.
A próxima reunião do Copom está marcada para os dias 30 e 31 de janeiro de 2024.
