Economista Galípolo precisa passar por sabatina e receber aval do Senado Federal
Nesta quarta-feira (28), o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) indicou o economista Gabriel Galípolo para presidir o Banco Central (BC).
A indicação foi anunciada pelo ministro da Fazenda, Fernando Haddad, no Palácio do Planalto.
“O presidente da República me incumbiu de fazer um comunicado aqui de que hoje ele está encaminhando ao Senado Federal o indicado dele para a Presidência do Banco Central, que vem a ser o Gabriel Galípolo, que hoje ocupa a Diretoria de Política Monetária do Banco”, disse Haddad.
Segundo o mikistto da Fazenda, a partir do anúncio, o governo vai “começar a trabalhar para definir os três nomes que irão compor a diretoria até o final do ano”.
Galípolo é um dos integrantes da diretoria do BC, indicado por Lula.
O escolhido pelo presidente da República sempre precisa receber o aval do Senado Federal antes de assumir o cargo de presidente do Banco Central.
Galípolo será sabatinado pela Comissão de Assuntos Econômicos (CAE) do Senado. Em seguida, precisa ter seu nome aprovado pelo plenário da Casa. A votação é secreta.
Galípolo será o sucessor de Roberto Campos Neto, atual presidente do BC, que permanece no cargo até dezembro deste ano. Ele cumpre o mandato de quatro anos, conforme a legislação vigente.
