Dizer que a COP30 em Belém foi um fiasco não é opinião — é constatação empírica, quase científica. A declaração do chanceler alemão Friedrich Merz, aliviado por deixar a capital paraense, apenas vocalizou o que todos os diplomatas cochichavam pelos corredores abafados dos centros de convenção: Belém virou vitrine não da Amazônia, mas do descaso brasileiro com a própria imagem.
É quase poético — no sentido trágico — que o governo tenha insistido em vender Belém como o altar global da proteção ambiental, enquanto a cidade, em carne, osso e crateras, expunha sua incapacidade estrutural para receber um evento de porte planetário. Ao apostar na Amazônia para fazer discurso, Brasília entregou, no mundo real, um cenário de improviso permanente. E improviso, no palco internacional, tem cheiro de Brasil velho: o Brasil que promete com megafone e entrega com gambiarra.
A comitiva alemã não precisou de mapas para perceber onde havia se metido. Bastou pisar no aeroporto, cruzar uma cidade asfixiada por falhas de segurança e enfrentar uma logística que faria inveja a um labirinto mal planejado. Enquanto o governo federal propagandeava modernização e inclusão amazônica, os hospitais estavam em colapso, as acomodações não chegavam ao nível mínimo exigido por quem carrega passaporte diplomático e o transporte público parecia um teste de sobrevivência digno do Discovery Channel.
Merz foi de uma sinceridade devastadora ao afirmar que todos “ficaram felizes” ao retornar para casa. Infeliz é quem, por patriotada, tenta dizer que se tratou apenas de uma frase mal colocada. Não foi. Foi um diagnóstico cirúrgico de quem viu de perto a distância entre a propaganda oficial e a realidade que o governo insiste em maquiar. Diplomatas não fazem dancinha para o TikTok — quando falam, traduzem desconforto em termos diplomáticos educados, eufemismos glaciais. Merz nem se deu ao trabalho.
A verdade é que Belém nunca esteve pronta — e todos sabiam. A criminalidade alta, a infraestrutura deficiente e o caos administrativo não surgiram na véspera da conferência. Apenas foram expostos sob holofotes internacionais. O vexame, portanto, não é surpresa; é consequência.
E a insistência do governo em tratar críticas como ataque colonialista ou síndrome de vira-lata só revela o desespero em esconder a própria incompetência. Não foi a Alemanha que envergonhou o Brasil — foi o Brasil que entregou à Alemanha, e ao mundo inteiro, um cenário que faria qualquer chanceler correr para o aeroporto com a mala na mão.
O mais grave é que a escolha de Belém nunca teve como prioridade a eficiência. Teve como prioridade a estética política: posar de defensor da floresta, abraçar árvores diante das câmeras e fingir que o país trata a Amazônia como projeto, e não como retórica. Mas retórica, quando exposta ao teste da realidade, vira fumaça — e não da floresta.
A COP30 deveria ter sido a chance do Brasil mostrar maturidade, preparo, compromisso. Acabou revelando justamente o oposto: a incapacidade crônica de conciliar discurso ambiental com infraestrutura mínima. Belém virou cenário simbólico da contradição brasileira — defender o planeta enquanto falha em proteger seus visitantes.
Merz, com uma frase curta, rasgou o véu da fantasia oficial: não basta declarar amor à Amazônia; é preciso construir uma cidade que funcione, que respeite moradores, trabalhadores e visitantes. Sem isso, qualquer discurso verde é só tinta fresca escorrendo sobre paredes mofadas.
Se a COP30 ensinou alguma coisa, foi que o Brasil só será protagonista ambiental quando tratar a Amazônia como território real, e não peça de marketing. Até lá, continuará repetindo a triste liturgia da improvisação: escolher a cidade errada, fingir que está tudo bem, e se espantar quando o mundo diz, sem rodeios, que não está.
E se o governo achou ofensiva a sinceridade do chanceler alemão, deveria preparar-se: o mundo não costuma ter paciência com quem confunde evento internacional com propaganda eleitoral. A Amazônia merece respeito. Belém merece respeito. O planeta merece respeito. O que se viu, porém, foi apenas o velho espetáculo nacional da precariedade em alta definição.
