Dane lutava contra a ELA (Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica)
O ator Eric Dane, famoso por interpretar o médico Mark Sloan no seriado Grey’s Anatomy, morreu nessa quinta-feira (19) aos 53 anos.
A informação foi confirmada por familiares dele para a revista norte-americana People.
Segundo comunicado divulgado à imprensa, Dane morreu por conta da Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA).
“Ao longo de sua jornada com a ELA, Eric tornou-se um defensor apaixonado da conscientização e da pesquisa, determinado a fazer a diferença para outros que enfrentam a mesma batalha. Ele fará muita falta e será lembrado com carinho para sempre. Eric adorava seus fãs e é eternamente grato pela demonstração de amor e apoio que recebeu.”
“Ele passou seus últimos dias cercado por amigos queridos, sua dedicada esposa e suas duas lindas filhas, Billie e Georgia, que eram o centro de seu mundo”, diz o comunicado, que pediu privacidade para a família.
O ator tornou a doença pública em abril de 2025. Na época, ele gravava a série “Euphoria”.
Dane nasceu em 9 de novembro de 1972, na Califórnia, onde foi criado. Filho de um militar da Marinha, perdeu o pai aos 7 anos, vítima de um ferimento por arma de fogo. Depois de concluir o ensino médio, mudou-se para Los Angeles decidido a investir na carreira artística. No início, fez participações especiais em produções como Saved by the Bell, Married… with Children e Charmed, além de atuar no filme X-Men: The Last Stand. Também integrou o elenco por uma temporada do drama médico Gideon’s Crossing, que teve curta duração.
O reconhecimento nacional veio em meados dos anos 2000, quando foi escolhido para interpretar o Dr. Mark Sloan, o “McSteamy”, no drama médico da ABC Grey’s Anatomy. Ele deu vida ao personagem entre 2006 e 2012, retornando ao papel em 2021. Anos depois, em 2019, surpreendeu o público ao assumir um registro completamente diferente como Cal Jacobs, um homem casado e atormentado, na série da HBO Euphoria, personagem que interpretou até o fim da vida.
Na televisão, também protagonizou The Last Ship, da TNT, vivendo Tom Chandler, capitão de um destróier da Marinha dos Estados Unidos que enfrenta o colapso global provocado por uma catástrofe que elimina grande parte da população mundial.
