Segundo o Censo Demográfico 2022, realizado mais de dez anos após a edição anterior da pesquisa em 2010, o Brasil tem 203.062.512 de habitantes agora. Os primeiros resultados do Censo Demográfico foram divulgados nesta quarta-feira (28) pelo Instituto de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE).
O número veio abaixo das projeções anteriores do órgão. Em 2021, o prognóstico apontava que país teria ao menos 213 milhões de habitantes. Em dezembro de 2022, já com dados prévios do levantamento, o IBGE revisou a estimativa para 207,7 milhões, ou 4,7 milhões de pessoas acima do cálculo final.

- O crescimento populacional foi maior no interior do que em capitais – 66,58% dos novos habitantes se concentraram em regiões fora desses grandes centros urbanos.
- 5% das cidades brasileiras concentram 56% população do país. Ao todo, 115,6 milhões de pessoas, ou 56,95% da população, vivem em apenas 319 cidades.
- A média de moradores por domicílio caiu de 3,31 para 2,79.
Neste momento inicial, o IBGE apresentou apenas os números populacionais do país, das suas grandes regiões e dos municípios.
Nas Unidades da Federação (UFs), a população sofreu pouca alteração de distribuição. A região Sudeste continua sendo a mais populosa, com 41,8% do total de habitantes do país. Na sequência, estão o Nordeste (26,9%), Sul (14,7%), Norte (8,5%) e Centro-Oeste (8%).
Também em posição inalterada, o estado de São Paulo continua a ser o mais populoso do país, com 44,4 milhões de habitantes (21,88% da população brasileira).
Completam o pódio Minas Gerais, com 20,5 milhões de habitantes, e Rio de Janeiro, com 16 milhões. Na ponta oposta, o estado com menor população é Roraima, com 636 mil habitantes.
