Auge do período de estiagem na região Norte do País ainda nem chegou e preocupa pelo que pode acontecer
O mês de junho de 2023, já sob o governo do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) teve o maior número de queimadas registradas para o período, na Amazônia e no Cerrado, nos últimos 16 anos, de acordo com dados do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (Inpe).
Sob a batuta de Lula, ovacionado por ambientalistas que criticaram a gestão das queimadas pelo ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro, foram 3.075 focos de incêndio na Floresta Amazônica, número que só é menor do que os 3.519 contabilizados no mesmo mês de 2007, tambémem outro governo de Lula.
No ano passado, sob a presidência de Bolsonaro foram 2.562 focos, cerca de 30% a menos que agora na gestão de Lula.
O primeiro semestre deste ano também apresentou aumento em relação ao mesmo período do ano passado. Ao todo, foram 8.344 registros ante 7.533, em 2022, crescimento de 10% no bioma.
Os dados do Programa Queimadas, do Inpe, órgão ligado ao Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia, já haviam mostrado que o primeiro semestre de 2022 teve um aumento de 17% em relação ao mesmo período do ano anterior. Desta vez, apesar do novo crescimento, há uma desaceleração da escalada dos focos de incêndio.
O Cerrado brasileiro também apresentou aumento em junho, mas menor do que o crescimento na Amazônia. Em 2022, haviam sido 4.239 focos de incêndio no segundo maior bioma do Brasil e savana com a maior biodiversidade do mundo. No mesmo mês deste ano foram 4.472 ocorrências, crescimento de 5%.
Os dados para o mês só não são maiores do que os registrados em 2007, quando 7051 focos de incêndio foram contabilizados no bioma pelo Inpe.
Os resultados deste ano também são preocupantes porque o auge do período de estiagem na região Norte do País ainda não chegou. Além disso, a previsão de especialistas é que o número de incêndios florestais cresça ainda mais.
