Justiça determina o confisco de 16 fazendas, 10 mil cabeças de gado e R$ 116 milhões
A Polícia Federal (PF) prendeu o homem suspeito de ser o maior devastador da Amazônia já investigado A prisão ocorreu em Novo Progresso, no sudoeste do Pará, nesta quinta-feira (3), durante a operação “Retomada”, que também ocorre em Mato Grosso.
Segundo a PF, ele liderava um grupo suspeito de envolvimento em um esquema de invasão de terras da União e desmatamento para criação de gado na floresta amazônica.
No total, conforme a corporação, são cumpridos três mandados de busca e apreensão expedidos pela Justiça Federal em Novo Progresso e em Sinop, no Mato Grosso.
A Justiça também determinou o bloqueio de R$116 milhões, valor mínimo estimado dos recursos florestais extraídos e de recuperação da área atingida, além do sequestro de veículos, de 16 fazendas e imóveis, e da indisponibilidade de 10 mil cabeças de gado.
“As investigações tiveram início após a identificação, pela PF em Santarém, no Pará, do desmatamento de quase 6 mil hectares na região do município de Novo Progresso. O inquérito policial aponta que o grupo criminoso realizaria o cadastro fraudulento junto ao Cadastro Ambiental Rural de áreas próximas as suas em nome de terceiros, principalmente de parentes próximos. Em seguida, desmatariam tais áreas e as destinariam para criação de gado”, detalhou a PF.
Assim, os verdadeiros responsáveis pela exploração das atividades se sentiriam protegidos contra eventuais processos criminais ou administrativos, os quais seriam direcionados aos participantes sem patrimônio.

Até o momento, o inquérito policial identificou que o suspeito e seu grupo teriam se apossado de mais de 21 mil hectares de terras da União.
Além disso, de acordo com a PF, já foram constatados o desmatamento de mais de 6.500 hectares de floresta, o equivalente à quase quatro ilhas de Fernando de Noronha, com indícios de um único autor ser o responsável pela destruição ambiental, com emprego de um enorme aporte de recursos.
“Os danos ambientais são agravados pela ocupação de áreas circundantes a terras indígenas e unidades de conservação”, pontuou a polícia.

Segundo a PF, o suspeito líder do grupo já recebeu 11 autuações e seis embargos do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (IBAMA) por irregularidades. Perícias indicaram a existência de danos ambientais ocasionados por suas atividades também na Terra Indígena Baú.
