Quando o abrigo foi construído em um afloramento rochoso em 1984, suas 40 camas e longas mesas de madeira estavam inteiramente do lado italiano. Agora, dois terços do albergue, incluindo a maioria das camas e o restaurante, estão tecnicamente no sul da Suíça.
