A jovem Yasmin Chrystal Fideles de Sousa, de 20 anos, ficou com o rosto desfigurado e vários ferimentos por todo corpo após bater uma onça-pintada enquanto voltava da faculdade de moto. O acidente aconteceu na TO-431, na zona rural de Guaraí, na região centro-norte do Tocantins.
O relato do acidente foi divulgado pela jovem no Instagram. Segundo ela o animal era muito grande, com aproximadamente dois metros.
“A onça atravessou a rua e eu acabei batendo nela entre as patas traseiras e a barriga. Eu estava de capacete e ele se soltou”, contou ao g1. Após a batida o animal correu para a mata e desapareceu.
O acidente aconteceu por volta das 22h da última sexta-feira (11), a cerca de 600 metros da casa da jovem, em uma chácara. Após a queda a estudante de pedagogia fez o restante do caminho a pé, desorientada e com medo de a onça retornar.
“Aí vocês pensam, foram dois livramentos de Deus na minha vida. Primeiro foi o da moto que eu poderia muito bem não ter resistido porque a batida me jogou muito longe e por ela não ter voltado [a onça] para fazer alguma coisa comigo”, disse.”
Yasmin foi levada para o hospital pelo pai e ficou internada até domingo (13), quando recebeu alta. Ela contou que não teve fraturas, mas ficou com muitos hematomas e cortes no rosto, na cabeça, nas mãos e braços, assim como nas pernas, barriga e quadril.
A moto e o celular da jovem ficaram destruídos. Ela contou que vive há 13 anos local com a família e já viu alguns animais silvestres, mas nunca uma onça-pintada. “Eu já tinha visto jaguatirica, raposa, lobo guará, mas onça é a primeira vez”.
A onça-pintada (Panthera onca) é um animal carnívoro que apresenta corpo e cauda com pelo curto, as patas são adaptadas a vida cursorial, o focinho é curto e as orelhas pequenas e arredondadas. Os sentidos mais apurados são a visão e a audição, apesar do olfato também ser bem desenvolvido, quando comparado com outros animais, apresenta uma inferioridade. O comprimento total (cabeça à cauda) é de até 2,70 metros e pesa entre 35 kg e 158 kg. Sua pelagem varia do amarelo-claro ao castanho, com manchas pretas em forma de rosetas de diferentes tamanhos. Essas manchas são características que dão nome vulgar ao animal (nome não científico utilizado pela população) e funcionam como marcações para diferenciar os indivíduos, pois são únicas em cada um deles.
A onça pintada é o maior felino das Américas e o único representante do gênero Panthera no continente. É encontrado em quase todos os biomas brasileiros, exceto nos Pampas. Estima-se que o tamanho populacional no país seja inferior a 10 mil indivíduos. Dentre os biomas brasileiros, a floresta Amazônica é a região com maior proeminência deste animal. Enquanto na floresta Atlântica é o bioma com menor incidência, possivelmente, devido a fragmentação deste ecossistema.
