 Amauri foi preso em flagrante pela Polícia Militar, no Amazonas, por ameaças a indígenas na região. Ele é suspeito de envolvimento nos desaparecimentos do indigenista Bruno Pereira e do jornalista inglês Dom Phillips.

De acordo com o delegado titular da 50ª Delegacia Interativa de Polícia (DIP), Alex Perez, a Polícia Civil do Amazonas instaurou um inquérito policial para investigar o caso. Até a noite dessa terça-feira (7), cinco pessoas foram ouvidas pelas autoridades policiais, sendo quatro como testemunhas e uma na condição de suspeito.

A Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Amazonas (SSP-AM) ainda não divulgou os nomes das pessoas ouvidas. Fontes em Atalaia do Norte, cidade onde os dois desapareceram, afirmam que o suspeito ouvido pela polícia é Amauri.

Bruno e Phillips tinham sido vistos pela última vez quando chegaram à comunidade São Rafael por volta das 6h de domingo. No local, eles conversaram com a esposa do líder comunitário apelidado de ‘Churrasco’. De lá, eles partiram rumo a Atalaia do Norte, viagem que dura aproximadamente duas horas, mas não chegaram ao destino. A previsão era que eles chegassem ainda no domingo entre 8h e 9h.

“Os dois se deslocaram com o objetivo de visitar a equipe de Vigilância Indígena que se encontra próxima à localidade chamada Lago do Jaburu (próxima da Base de Vigilância da FUNAI no rio Ituí), para que o jornalista visitasse o local e fizesse algumas entrevistas com os indígenas”, diz o texto divulgado pela Univaja, na segunda-feira.

Eles viajavam com uma embarcação nova, de 40 cavalos, e 70 litros de gasolina, o suficiente para a viagem. Ainda no domingo, a Univaja começou as buscas. Sem obter sucesso, na segunda-feira, a organização indígena acionou as autoridades e divulgou nota à imprensa.
