A Amazônia e o Cerrado registraram recordes históricos no número de focos de queimadas para junho, segundo monitoramento do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa Espaciais (Inpe).
Na Amazônia, foram detectados 2.562 focos de calor, o maior número para o mês desde 2007, quando 3.519 focos foram registrados. É o terceiro ano consecutivo de alta no número de focos de calor na floresta.
Os meses de maio e junho marcam o início da temporada de queimadas e desmatamento na Amazônia, por causa do período de seca na floresta. Em maio, o Inpe detectou 2.287 focos de calor na floresta, também um recorde histórico: foi a maior quantidade para o mês desde 2004.
A tendência é que a quantidade de pontos de queimada no Brasil aumente em julho e agosto. As medições são feitas desde 1998. No acumulado do semestre, já são 7,5 mil focos de calor registrados na floresta, um aumento de 18% em relação ao mesmo período de 2021. A Amazônia também viu um semestre com a maior área sob alerta de desmatamento em 7 anos, ainda sem os dados dos últimos 6 dias de junho.
Já o Cerrado registrou ainda mais pontos de queimada em junho do que a Amazônia: 4.239 focos, o maior número para junho desde 2010, quando 6.443 focos haviam sido detectados. Também é o terceiro ano consecutivo de alta nos focos de queimada no bioma.
Assim como na Amazônia, a temporada seca no bioma também já começou: no mês passado, foram registrados 3.578 focos de calor no Cerrado, o maior número para o mês desde que o Inpe começou as medições, em 1998.
No acumulado do semestre, o Cerrado somou quase 11 mil focos de queimadas; o número é o maior para o período desde 2010.
Os dados históricos do Inpe também apontam que deve haver ainda mais focos mensais de queimada no bioma pelos próximos três meses. No ano passado, foram detectados 41.937 focos de calor no Cerrado somente no período de julho a setembro.
