Samantha Pearson era diretora do Centro de Violência Sexual da Universidade 
A Universidade de Alberta, no Canadá, demitiu a diretora do Centro de Violência Sexual da instituição, Samantha Pearson (foto), depois de ela endossar uma carta aberta negando que mulheres tenham sido estupradas durante o ataque do Hamas, em 7 de outubro.
Em comunicado, a universidade anunciou no sábado, 18, a demissão imediata de Pearson de seu cargo e a nomeação de uma nova diretora interina para o Centro de Violência Sexual. A instituição destacou ainda que as opiniões da agora ex-diretora não representam as da universidade.
A carta aberta foi escrita por duas políticas canadenses, Sarah Jama, membro do parlamento de Ontário, e Susan Kim, vereadora em Victoria.
“Nós, os abaixo assinados, residentes no Canadá, instamos os líderes políticos canadenses a acabarem com a sua cumplicidade nos massacres e genocídios em curso em Gaza, na Palestina Ocupada”, escreveram na carta aberta.
O presidente e vice-reitor da Universidade de Alberta, Bill Flanagan, afirmou que a carta foi assinada em “uso indevido e não autorizado” do nome da instituição.
“Os serviços prestados pela universidade, especialmente aqueles que apoiam o bem-estar e a saúde dos membros da comunidade, devem ser abertos e acolhedores a todos os indivíduos da nossa comunidade diversificada”, disse Flanagan.
As autoridades israelenses investigam vários casos de violência sexual e estupro durante o ataque do grupo terrorista Hamas em 7 de outubro, que matou cerca de 1.200 pessoas.
A carta pede o afastamento dos deputados e do primeiro-ministro, Justin Trudeau, por ter se recusado a exigir um cessar-fogo. Os signatários criticam ainda o líder da oposição por ter “repetido a acusação não verificada de que os palestinos eram culpados de violência sexual”.
O que a carta chama de “acusação não verificada” foi filmado, fotografado e testemunhado. Além disso, as novas revelações e descobertas de atrocidades cometidas pelos terroristas contra mulheres idosas, jovens, adolescentes e crianças fizeram com que a polícia israelense, em 14 de novembro, abrisse investigação especificamente sobre os casos de violação e mutilação sexual cometidos durante o ataque.
As investigações apontam atrocidades como estupros seguidos de mutilação das partes íntimas com as vítimas ainda vivas.
As histórias contadas em uma reportagem da revista francesa Marie Claire nesta última sexta-feira, são devastadoras e de extrema crueldade.
A revista tenta conscientizar o mundo contra o que classificou como absurdo silêncio de movimentos em defesa de mulheres e o explícito negacionismo de muitas organizações feministas.
Para Marie Claire, parte de determinados agrupamentos ideológicos estãoindo contra a verdade e fez-se necessário expor o terror que o grupo já cometeu e continua cometendo, agora contra as sequestradas que mantém reféns, para que os que defendem o Hamas saibam exatamente o horror que estão defendendo.
Os casos narrados na reportagem da revista Marie Claire são corroborados por fotos, vídeos ou testemunhas, como a filmagem do corpo de uma mulher seminua, rodeada por homens armados que cuspiam nela, na carroceria de uma caminhonete e que foi uma das primeiras imagens do feminicídio a circular na internet.
A revista ressalta que foram os próprios terroristas que filmaram e transmitiram a cena.
