Uma resolução publicada pelo Banco Central (BC) nesta semana determina que as instituições financeiras e de pagamento promovam ações de educação financeira aos clientes. As regras começam a valer em 1º de julho do ano que vem e foram publicadas no Diário Oficial da União (DOU) de terça-feira (26).
O objetivo, segundo o BC, é que as empresas proporcionem conteúdos que contribuam para:
- organização e planejamento do orçamento pessoal e familiar;
- formação de poupança e resiliência financeira;
- e prevenção à inadimplência de operações e ao superendividamento.
Cabe ao Banco Central regular todo o sistema financeiro e as instituições financeiras terão obrigação de fornecer informações aos usuários e fazer acompanhamento, a nova regra pode significar melhores resultados para a saúde financeira das pessoas físicas e jurídicas.
De acordo com o Banco Central, as instituições financeiras devem garantir o amplo alcance das ações e “disponibilizar conteúdo e ferramentas, em linguagem, canal e momento mais adequados frente às características e às necessidades de educação financeira dos clientes e usuários, considerando o perfil do público-alvo”.
A partir dessas determinações, as instituições financeiras deverão criar mecanismos de acompanhamento e controle para assegurar a implementação e efetividade das medidas. Além disso, cada uma deve indicar ao Banco Central um diretor responsável pelo cumprimento das obrigações.
