O coronel da reserva da Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal (PMDF) Alberto Fraga filiou-se ao PL, partido do presidente Jair Bolsonaro. Após um período de desentendimento, Fraga e Bolsonaro fizeram as pazes em uma conversa por telefone.
Fraga quer concorrer a deputado federal pelo DF nas eleições deste ano. Ele ocupou o cargo por quatro mandatos. Nas últimas eleições, em 2018, candidatou-se a governador, teve 88.840 votos e ficou em 6º lugar na disputa.
Antes do PL, o ex-deputado ficou por pouco tempo no União Brasil, sigla criada com a junção do DEM e do PSL. Ele deixou o União após ter sido preterido na escolha para a presidência do diretório regional do partido no DF.
O coronel da reserva ficou afastado do presidente por um período durante o mandato de Bolsonaro. Fraga foi apontado como provável ministro da Justiça por diversas vezes, mas a nomeação nunca foi concretizada. O ex-deputado se distanciou ainda mais após a morte de sua esposa, Mirta Fraga, vítima da Covid-19.
