O ministro Luiz Edson Fachin, presidente do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), informou nesta quinta-feira (5) que, entre janeiro e abril deste ano, o país cadastrou 2.042.817 novos eleitores na faixa etária de 16 a 18 anos.
Fachin deu a informação ao abrir a sessão do TSE. O número, segundo o presidente do tribunal, representa aumento de 47,2% em relação ao mesmo período em 2018 e aumento de 57,4% em relação aos quatro primeiros meses de 2014.
“No dia 2 de outubro, [esses jovens novos eleitores] poderão comparecer às urnas para exercer o nobre e digno direito do voto”, declarou Fachin ao dizer que os números são “animadores”.
Na avaliação do presidente do TSE, a juventude brasileira foi convocada a participar das eleições, e “a resposta foi impressionante”. “Desta vez, o que vimos foi a sociedade brasileira mobilizada pela democracia. Dos 18 aos 80, ninguém disse ‘não’, ninguém abdicou”, afirmou.
Ainda durante a sessão, Fachin acrescentou que a Justiça Eleitoral “não medirá esforços” para realizar eleições limpas e transparentes. O presidente Jair Bolsonaro costuma atacar o processo eleitoral, mas nunca apresentou provas de eventuais irregularidades.
Na avaliação do presidente do TSE, a juventude brasileira foi convocada a participar das eleições, e “a resposta foi impressionante”. “Desta vez, o que vimos foi a sociedade brasileira mobilizada pela democracia. Dos 18 aos 80, ninguém disse ‘não’, ninguém abdicou”, afirmou.
Ainda durante a sessão, Fachin acrescentou que a Justiça Eleitoral “não medirá esforços” para realizar eleições limpas e transparentes. Na avaliação do presidente do TSE, a mobilização social para garantir a filiação de jovens neste ano “superou todos os recordes” da Justiça Brasileira em 90 anos.
“[Os números são] reflexo da mobilização encabeçada pelo TSE durante a semana do jovem eleitor, entre 14 e 18 de março e que teve adesão espontânea dos partidos, da sociedade civil e de toda a sociedade brasileira a este movimento. O engajamento da sociedade foi refletida em números”, acrescentou o presidente do TSE.
Conforme Fachin, “a Justiça Eleitoral mostrou toda força que tem”. Somente nos últimos 31 dias, afirmou, foram feitos 8,9 milhões de atendimentos presenciais ou de forma virtual.
