Já foram confirmadas ao menos 22 mortes em decorrência da ação policial, mas número pode aumentar. Jacarezinho, no ano passado, somou 28 óbitos.
Esta é mais uma operação policial na cidade do Rio de Janeiro que voltou a chamar atenção pelo alto número de mortos no confronto dntre policiais e marginais.
Até a tarde desta terça-feira (24), 22 pessoas haviam morrido na Vila Cruzeiro, no Complexo da Penha e já é considerada a segunda mais letal da cidade, ficando apenas atrás da que aconteceu no Jacarezinho, em maio de 2021, com 28 óbitos.
Se o recorte for estadual, a operação fica em terceiro, já que uma ação da PM na Vila Operária, no município de Duque de Caxias, na Baixada Fluminense, em janeiro de 1998, terminou com 23 mortos.
O comando da Polícia Militar afirmou que a operação conjunta com a Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF) estava sendo planejada há meses, mas foi deflagrada de modo emergencial para impedir uma suposta migração para a Rocinha.
“Durante a madrugada, identificamos uma grande movimentação de criminosos, e por conta disso desencadeamos essa ação. Provavelmente, para haver uma invasão”, explicou o coronel Luiz Henrique Marinho Pires, secretário de Polícia Militar.
O porta-voz da PM, coronel Ivan Blaz, lamentou a morte de uma moradora, mas defendeu a operação e a força empregada no confronto contra a facção que atua na Vila Cruzeiro.
“Precisamos desbaratar essa quadrilha, que é beligerante e já é hoje responsável por mais de 80% dos confrontos armados do Rio de Janeiro. Essa facção criminosa que opera ali na região da Vila Cruzeiro atua numa campanha expansionista em todo o nosso estado”, afirmou.
As operações mais letais da cidade do Rio de Janeiro foram:
- Jacarezinho (maio de 2021) – 28 mortos;
- Vila Cruzeiro (maio de 2022) – 22 mortos;
- Complexo do Alemão (junho de 2007) – 19 mortos;
- Senador Camará (janeiro de 2003) – 15 mortos ;
- Fallet/Fogueteiro (fevereiro de 2019) – 15 mortos;
- Complexo do Alemão (julho de 1994) – 14 mortos;
- Complexo do Alemão (maio de 1995) – 13 mortos;
- Morro do Vidigal (julho de 2006) – 13 mortos;
- Catumbi (abril de 2007) – 13 mortos;
- Complexo do Alemão (agosto de 2004) – 12 mortos;
Segundo a polícia, ao menos 12 mortos na Vila Cruzeiro eram suspeitos de integrar o tráfico de drogas. Uma mulher de 41 anos que era uma moradora, foi vítima de bala perdida atingida dentro de casa. Os demais mortos ainda não foram identificados.
