O fim do Ramadã é marcado com o avistamento da lua crescente, marcando o Eid-al-Fitr, que deve ser em meados de maio.
O que é o Ramadã e como é observado?
O Ramadã é observado pelos muçulmanos para comemorar quando Deus revelou os primeiros capítulos do Alcorão, o texto sagrado do Islã, ao profeta Maomé. Os muçulmanos acreditam que durante este período, as portas do céu estão abertas e as portas do inferno estão fechadas.
Os muçulmanos comemoram o mês sagrado jejuando – considerado um dos cinco pilares do Islã – durante as horas de luz solar. A refeição antes do amanhecer é chamada de suhoor , enquanto o jejum é quebrado ao entardecer com o iftar , começando com alguns goles de água e algumas tâmaras.
A abstinência durante o Ramadã não se restringe apenas a comida e água. Estende-se a abster-se de atividade sexual, fumar e até mesmo ao ciúme, raiva ou outros pensamentos negativos. Os muçulmanos acreditam que seguir essas práticas durante o Ramadã levará à autopurificação, ao autocontrole e os aproximará de Allah. Muitos muçulmanos também participam de cultos especiais de oração, lêem versículos do Alcorão e se envolvem em caridade.
Durante o Ramadã, escritórios e escolas em países islâmicos fecharam mais cedo.

Você pode trocar saudações do Ramadã dizendo “Ramadan Kareem”, que se traduz em “Tenha um Ramadã generoso” ou “Ramadan Mubarak”, que se traduz aproximadamente em “Feliz Ramadã”.

Além de uma data religiosa, o Ramadan também é uma época de socialização e comunhão entre amigos e famílias. A refeição da quebra de jejum é chamada de Iftar e é uma festa diária.
É comum ver armadas as belas barracas ou tendas de Ramadan, que fornecem um local para as pessoas se encontrarem enquanto comem pratos e doces especiais do Ramadã, como qatayef, baklava e konafa, e beber qamar aldeen, o suco de damasco seco.
As tendas são decoradas nas cores tradicionais da época – vermelho, branco e azul – e misturam elementos de decoração egípcia e islâmica. É comum também ver as tendas de Ramadan iluminadas por lanternas típicas.
Uma das características mais icônicas e rica da história cultural do mês sagrado no Egito é a lanterna do Ramadan – “fanous Ramadan” – em árabe. Elas são expostas em ruas, casas, bazares e escritórios, decorando a cidade e criando uma atmosfera mágica excepcional.
Nas tendas, além de comer, você pode aproveitar a programação cultural da época, com música feita pelos instrumentos tradicionais Al oud e Al qanoon. Elas se concentram nas ruas do Cairo, deixando a região ainda mais animada e festiva.
